The main tourist attractions are water sports and fishing on the Zambezi river, the annual Kuomboka ceremony and the annual Kazanga ceremony held in Kaoma District. The National Parks and wildlife areas include the Zambezi River and its wide floodplain, Liuwa Plain National Park, Sioma Ngwezi National Park and West Zambezi Game Management Area

Sioma Ngwezi National Park is mainly covered by Kalahari woodland. It is the third largest Park in Zambia covering a total area of more than 5000 km2. Park holds a huge variety of game species such as elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, eland, sable, roan, tsessebe, zebra, impala, kudu, duiker, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and sitatunga as well as a great number of birds.
Western Province is the largest administrative region in Zambia with a total land area of 126,386 square kilometre. The Provincial headquarter of Western Province is Mongu which is located about 600 km from Lusaka the capital city of Zambia.
