Cold storage and fish Haulage

The  long  distance  between  catching  and  consumption  areas  and  limited  cold  storage  and transport  facilities  means  that  65 percent  of  production  is  dried or smoked. This creates immense opportunities in cold storage and haulage of fresh fish using refrigerated trucks.

Aquaculture

Western Province  is  richly  endowed  with  natural  resources  ideally  suited  to  aquaculture production.  Exploitation of opportunities in aquaculture will reduce pressure on capture fisheries and provide opportunities for increased incomes for the rural poor.  Further, the development of commercial-scale aquaculture will contribute positively to economic growth.
